CGI Road Runner

Cartoon physics would be more startling if combined with (mostly) photo-realism

I was disappointed to discover recently that Geococcyx californianus was brown, not blue.

Nevertheless, I think it would be an interesting film-making (and software) challenge to produce sequences with falling anvils, fake tunnels, etc., which blended as seamlessly as possible, through CGI, with actual footage of a real Californian ground-cuckoo and a real coyote.

I understand that the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies took some steps in this direction - but they didn't start with footage of hedgehogs.

If they had, they might have got much closer to the boundary between comedy and nightmare-fuel.

Roger Rabbit was a cartoon, not CGI derived from images of actual rabbits.

The more photo-realistic version of The Lion King was not better than the original cartoon version

       It probably lacked falling anvils.
