Buffett's Buffet
To each according to their itches, from each according to their riches | |
All you can eat buffets already seem to repeal common sense
-- how can they be economically sustainable in the land of the
morbidly obese?
Extend the experiment further according to Buffett's Rule, by
having patrons pay according to their abilities.
Eat what you want, pay what you can.

Hey, fat is the only thing you can take with you to the grave... |

All-you-can-eat buffets work on an economy-of-scale
system; charge the same price for a 60-pound child as you
do for an industrial wood-chipper with a glandular
disorder, serve massive amounts of cheap, easy-to-prepare
food, and draw in as many customers as possible. Some
people eat more, some people eat less, but if you average
the consumption rate per person and set your prices so
that you make a marginal profit over the cost of sustaining
that average, you
make a lot of money if you have a lot of customers. That's
why those places are always near highways or shopping
malls and have signs that rival their dining areas for square
footage. Pack 'em, stuff 'em, and street 'em. |
