Bootguins

'don't have a pair of hissy penguins to take for a walk into town shopping, just nipping down to your local pub for a nice cold beverage or maybe a visit to the in-laws, a stroll in the park?

Slip into a pair of bootguins.

Bootguins are two thigh high streamlined boots in the form of two black and white King penguins made of pvc, felt, feathers and foam complete with fusiform bodies, orange upper chests, rigid, tapered flat flippers, webbed feet and bills on the heads and little beady eyes.

The webbed soles of the bootguins are air padded so that when you 'walk-waddle' the air within the soles is dispersed (by pressure of stepping) through tubes which run up the boot making the outer leg flippers flap, the bill to open and close.

When you step up, air is pulled back into the air pads enabling you to repeat the flipperflap and bill gesture. You would also make a little "hiss" or "squeak" as the air is dispersed.

Now you can take your two prize penguins for a waddle-walk, just remember to avoid dogs and broody King penguins.

You dare to get stoned in the same country as [Unabubba]? Brave. Foolish, but brave.
bristolz, Jan 24 2003

i would have thought that being stoned was a positive advantage around here. That is, The bakery, Oz and NZ. I recently gave up smoking weed. And hence have spent an awful lot of time doing things than sitting around talking bollox. But as far as UB and his anti smokink weed stance. Have a spliff bruv. its not as bad as you think. Oh yeah and inhale this time, eh!

I wonder what an albino penguin would look like.

       You could take these snorkeling.
FarmerJohn, Jan 24 2003

Male king penguins brood their mate's eggs by carrying it around on the top of their feet, under their plumage, to keep it warm. Maybe this could be the basis of a bizarre party game .....

one for the etymologists: would a white penguin be a guin?

       Sorry, i study ethnobotany.

UB doesn't live in Tasmania (which is probably about as big as france, at a guess) - he likes his space.

"Look at those two penguins taking turns hopping down the street while they rub their heads together, dear..."

[ one for the etymologists: would a white penguin be a guin?]

At one time it was considered all right to call them guins. But now the white penguins consider it to be a racial slur and very politically incorrect. They believe that a total lack of pigment is the next stage in their evolution in the genetic race for perfect camouflage, and prefer to just be called honkeys.

Their slogan: It's OK, everything's gonna be all white.

UB. damage here.I was a resident of Angleterre. I tried Oz but couldn't cope with Xenophobia, spiders, snakes, sharks, nuclear power, everything being on fire all the time,Derryn hinch, Pauline Hanson, john howard, & good ol"Joh BP. I've never signed on in my life, and if I told you what I do fer a living, you wouldn't believe me anyway. I have smoked a LOT of pot ( but don't anymore. i surf instead) and tried just about evryting else at one time or another. And as far as 'it being illegal', come on fella, are you telling me that you only do what the government says youcan do? If we all behaved like that all the time we might as well move to Florida. Anyway, respect to you and everyone else. Cos', after all that is the only way forward, innit?
briandamage, Jan 25 2003

At least until the government say so.

Just don't let anyone on that new idea try to tell you that Tasmania and France are similar in size... Tasmania is 26,383 square miles; France is 211,208 square miles... About eight times larger. A better geographic, if not cultural, comparison might be made to the state of West Virginia in the US at 24,181 square miles, or to Ireland at 27,136 square miles. Unfortunately, neither W Virginia nor Ireland are blessed with either Bootguins or Shoehuahuas. Both, however, are well-acquainted with Clogs, I'm told.

Is it just me or does the albino penguin in [thumbwax]'s link look mildly photoshopped and very superimposed?
Bert6322, Jan 27 2003

Take a look at [my face your]'s recently added link if you want to see a "mildly photoshopped" version. I'm giving up my paltry + just for that link.
jurist, Jan 28 2003

It has to be photoshopped - Albino strains have pink eyes, Shirley? As for 'Gerald the spatzguin' , there is nothing wrong with trying to better yourself!

A lovely idea and a brilliant education in baker proximities. Plus plus one. +

As a freediver, I love the idea of snorkeling in a pair of these....although it would probably help me get the attention of "the landlord" (great white sharks)
normzone, Dec 12 2003

Not albinism, blondism. Same as peacocks. Nothing more weird than a white male peacock trying to impress the ladies. Blond penguins usually don't get to reproduce, either.
