Dont you just hate it when youre laid back, soaking in the bathtub and realize that you forgot that glass of wine or mobile phone? With a motorized, traveling tub you can roll to any room you desire, to watch an extra soap before rinsing or to park in the sun on the patio.
This automobath is mounted
on sturdy, 25 cm (10 inch), rubber-tired wheels driven by a 1.5 horsepower, wheelchair motor. By disconnecting the snap-lock drain hose and lowering the tiller, youre ready to steer your 150 kg (330 lb) water wagon at up to 2 kph (1.25 mph) throughout the premises.

Movement between floor levels is to be done only at the user's own risk and is specifically discouraged by the manufacturer. However, if you must, water resistant floor coverings are recommended. |

the thought of farmerjohn and a happy duck in the bathtub bumping down the stairs is a happy thought indeed. |

Yes, I'm not convinced by the mass calculation either .... say 80 Kg for the soapy, fragrant halfbaker, pluas another 100 Kg of water (for a good, deep bath). Then add 20 Kg for the battery and another 20 Kg for the motor and drive train. Plus a light alloy spaceframe - maybe 30 Kg - gimballs, anti-slop tilt compensating servos .... you'd be hitting 300 Kg before you know it. Add a selection of soaps and a rubber duck and that's the best part of half a tonne trundling round. Best buy a bungalow with solid floors ... |

8th of 7, I think the soap bubbles are agitated into existance with helium... |
Dang, I left the croissant downstairs in the kitchen. |

There you go. Sorry - it's a bit soggy. |

I'm with [po] on this one, the visual alone is worth a +. Then add a few friends, a keg of beer, couple of family pets, lots and lots of bubbles, and I see a bathing extravaganza, to be enjoyed by all. |

I suppose it would save space. The bath would be squatting in other rooms so the empty bathroom space could be used for other purposes... or would there need to be a special docking bay in the bathroom for recharging the bath? |
Personally, i think this is an idea for single homeowners or couples - not people living with their parents... ewww |

If the computer won't come to the bathtub, then the bathtub must go to the computer. |

Onboard waterproof web tablet as compulsory fitment. Definitely. |

It would be misused. People riding round in their tubby tubs. "Just off to the shops darling, be back around noon." Rubber ducky drive bye's. Tubby drag racing. Too much pruney flesh for me. (Actually i'm just jealous of everyone else. My tubs on the third floor, I could only drive to the bedroom and back.) |
tubby alert - what do you know, lazlo? |

This is quite a bit better than what I was going to propose: a bath suit. This would be a rubber suit with integral water heater and massaging jets. You could walk around town, doing your chores, all while bathing. But your image is much more satisfying. |

I keep thinking about that Money Pit movie, and the bathtub falling through the floor... |
Idischler: That's been done here before; not sure if it's still around, last remember seeing it sometime in May. |
thcgenius: Here, they've had a Gevalia coffee commercial with a bathtub drop-in ("When someone unexpected drops by"). Even at 300 kg, the bath buggy is equivalent to a quartet of adults checking out the oil paintings. |

[8th] Thinking about your earlier anno... 300kg + soap + rubber duck = 1/2 tonne. |
That is one *hell* of a rubber duck! |

We know. We could tell you more, but then we'd have to kill you ..... |

There's another visual for you - [8th] motoring along in his tracked camo tub, with mounted rubber ducky full of electronics to detect moggies by smell, brainwave, temp, radar image, sonar, etc. Turret mounted water cannon; two rows of kitty stickers for soaks and squishes. [8th] with diabolical grin, leather-look shower cap & goggles. |

Annual bath buggy races in Nome, Alaska. Admittedly these rely on the Flintstone Propulsion System [picture link]. |

[lurch] I think you may have created the newest bakery superhero prototype. [8th] in his bath buggy to the rescue. But just not for kitties. |
