We face this nuisance every day. So your working outside wearing sandals, the phone rings and you go inside leaving your sandals outside. Upon returning outside your sandals are facing the wrong direction forcing you to rotate them with your foot in order to step into them.
The solution is a simple
system. A small turntable powered by an electric motor extends from the bottom of the sandal lifting it up and rotating it 180 degrees. This way when you step back outside the sandals are turned in the correct direction.
Shameless self-linking

C'mon, you can do better than this for a category. I'll take the opportunity to link to a shoe idea of mine as an example. |
So they'll be facing in the right direction, but the right sandal will be where the left should be, and the left will be where the right should be. |
Simple solution: Face sideways when you're stepping out of your sandals. This way, it's only a 90 degree turn each way. |
Wouldn't that make them heavy? You would need some burly straps for those sandals. |
So, not an idea for landing your helisandals when the engine fails?
//So your working outside //sp. "you're" |

The house's doormat is itself mounted on a turntable-type device. You step on it and remove your sandals, moccasins, construction boots or ballet slippers, after a predetermined time, the mat turns 180 degrees. |

(sorry, I keep reading your name that way and I know it's wrong) |
I thought the title read "auto-rotating sundials". Might be convenient in places that use DST. |
Antegrity, I think you are approaching the problem from the wrong direction.
Simply design some sandals that can be worn either way round. |

It's ok [phundug]. [po] actually calls me snotty; you should see what my previous 'business associates' call me. |

You could also design the house with a rectangular alcove with a door on each side. You walk into the alcove, turn right remove sandals, enter house. to leave the house you use the OPPOSITE door, on the LEFT side of the alcove. Your sandals are precisely positioned for quick access. |

two way sandals ehhh. An interesting problem to solve. |
Much easier solution to that one - see link. |

[DrCurry], nice link. I wonder if sand on the beach sticks to them. |
it's inventive, it has totally no point, and it's doable, so bun. |
[Ling] No, its water-adhesive! |
Isn't the title false? That is, this invention is not for a type of sandals, but for a machine to spin things around. |
I think im getting this pedantry thing, after all! |
Pedantry: Gumbob, that's "I'm". |
Last time we worried about this, I suggested a lazy susan. |
Overcomplicated, expensive, silly. But addressing a genuine inconvenience. What's not to bun? [+] Perfect. |
[DesertFox], Ah, so only wet sand will stick to them; and I should remember to keep them out of the water, lest I bring the sea back home with me. |
