Everyone knows that the great ocean liners of the early 20th century eventually evolved into today's cruise ships. I propose the creation of a cruise line utilizing large airships much like those seen in the 30's and 40's and with similar luxury and amenities (albeit on a smaller scale) to modern cruise
ships.
This could also be further extended by operating a cruise line with both airships and conventional cruise ships.

after a quick perusal of the Hindenburg site I suppose that this could be compared to a very small cruise ship so actually inside the realm of reason. scaled up to the capacity of a modern cruise ship would be absolutely huge. |

well if you insist you can, otherwise with the lifting power increasing cube-ically with size, while the number of passenger-cabins placed on the skin increases square-ically, there's an optimum (rather large) size where the entire outside of the envelope is composed of passenger-cabins (plus observation areas, lounges, dining, etc.). The cabins above the midline won't have a view of what's underneath, but perhaps they can have balconies. |
