5kg Headphones

neck exercise headphones

I have observed some gym users using a type of headband to which they attach hanging weights on the end of a chain, then alternatively raise and lower their heads as a form of neck exercise. [see link video]

In order to use this appartus, headphones must be removed then the headband cleaned and adjusted to fit etc. I have a solution to this:
5kg Headphones

These are exactly as described - ie a set of cast iron headphones to which extra weights can be added in the form of screw on disks. 5kg Headphones come in a slightly different form as they need a padded chin strap and headband to secure them, but once in place they can be worn continously throughout the entire duration of a gym session.

This means that the neck muscles are constantly being exercised, not only according to a programme but with general head and neck movements, while still listening to music or other audio material.

* note the makers of 5kg Headphones accept no responsibility for those who develop a very thick neck.

This should be one offering in a range of products: 5kg shoes, 5kg wristwatch, 5kg sunglasses, 5kg belt-buckle, 5kg hat, etc.

I agree.... there are already weighted boots, but the rest would work fine. I had initially considered a hat with a round spike extending vertically above it, unto which disk weights could be placed, but couldn't resist the headphones, even thought the hat would look excellent.

I also have a drawing of a proposal for a "ship in a bottle of water" headware piece, where the movement of the head causes waves to be generated causing the ship to roll around. Not posted here as it's for another idea stream.

In the 18th century, french court fashions led to bizarre, elaborate wigs for ladies, incorporating items like chiming clocks and birdcages with live songbirds.

       What's bizarre about that?

You could have a helm with a crest, the crest in the form of an animatronic mannequin bodybuilder lifting an oversized dumbbell. You could place extra lead disks on the mannequin's bar.

[xenzag] NZ has the World of wearable art event. That headpiece idea sounds like a perfect accessory.
A waving, transitional black blue, dress with layers of moving sea creatures, the lower ones being luminescent, might be the theme.

As for the idea, it's certain going to help you diagnose any hidden problems.

I delivered numerous wearable projects for my students. The international events tend to focus on the loud and extravagant. If I was submitting headphones I think I would make something more outrageous than the 5kgs. We could be looking at The Royal Albert Hall headphones for example.

Houses of parliament headphones would make more sense; you could listen to a stereo stream of complete bollocks, commons in one ear, lords in the other, and the hot air would keep your ears warm in cold weather...
