Create a verbal or text description of digital image

Currently you can't e-mail a digital image of a person, images of your Grand Canyon vacation, or digital images of a painting to those that can't see it. You instead have to send a voice mail, call by them by phone, or type out a text message (that will have to be converted to speech)to describe the image (brown hair, receding hairline, mustache, etc.).

Along the lines of my previous submission entitled: "Flora and Fauna Recognition", I would like to see facial recognition technology applied to identifying animal, vegetables and minerals or any other object that can be identified visually (mountains, oak trees, stalactites, hammerhead sharks, etc.). Of course the software would make occasional mistakes in identification and verbalization that humans would have to verify.

The translation service could also be offered over the telephone if the sight challenged person does not have a computer to receive/decode the picture themselves.

But people do this all the time! They take pictures or small videos with their camera phones and e-mail them or add them to their websites.

You're talking about software. Why the pseudo-domain name title?

Computer vision is an ongoing topic of research. It's complicated. Once it's done, yeah, it'll get used. But do we really think this is how?
