Forced draught cooled cycling cape   (+6)  [vote for, against]
Stay dry, stay cool.

Cycling in the summer, when it's rainy, can be uncomfortable; waterproof clothing all too often traps perspiration, and the rider gets soaked anyway ....

But not any more. BorgCo are now able to offer a forced-draught summer rainwear for cyclists.

The garment resembles a standard anorak, made of lightweight rainproof material, except that it has a hood with a transparent faceplate and a peak. There are small adjustable vents at the neck, cuffs and waist.

From the nape of the neck, a tube of the same material, with lightweight hoop reinforcement, runs down to the blower assembly which is clipped above the rear wheel. As the wheel turns, a friction pulley transfers power from the wheel to a lighweight centrifugal fan, which blows air though a low-pressure filter up the tube. The air intake is so situated and designed that it ingests the minimum amout of rain and road spray.

As the rider pedals, fresh air is blown around their head, then passes down over their body and arms befoe exiting at the vents. A one way valve below the faceplate allows the rider to breathe when not pedalling.

Available in a vairety of colours, with or without reflective stripes, advertsiing branding or logos.

Puncture repair kit available for modest extra charge. Additional pollen filter kits can be installed (not included).

Very good, [Spacecoyote], very good indeed. Have an honorary bun.

Nice idea, but I dislike bicycle idea which would slow me down - either by increasing drag or by taking power from the drivetrain. I've found it easier just to get very wet when it rains. Luckily I'm waterproof.

//a hood with a transparent faceplate//

This could be useful in its own right.

//friction pulley transfers power from the wheel //

Resistance is *not* futile, n'est pas? (+)

Ha ha [Jinbish], ha ha ...

Are you preventing the rain by forcing a draught?
