whole-car decals

Peel off a layer to change color

It would be nice to have a car color that fits you outfit or that just looks new from time to time.

Imagine a whole-car decal that covers your entire car with a sticker of a desired color, or even a printed pattern or image. It would be similiar to the way that city buses are wrapped in whole-bus advertising decals.

Now, imagine 10 layers of colored decals stacked up. All of them would be professionally applied in one visit to the decal shop.

Any time that you wish to change color, or if your car simply gets dirty, just pull an embedded strip and peel back one layer of decals: Ta-da! Your car has a brand new "paint" job.

Or, you could have multiple clear layers. Just peel one off and your car is super clean. The clear layers could even go over the windshield.

By popular demand, all layers would be easily reusable and/or recyclable.

How about a car where you can change all of the panels in less than an hour? [reap, Oct 15 2004]

With my car, I'd need peel-off fenders and bumpers.

I dress in multiple layers, and start stripping out on the street until I match my car.

I would definintly vote for this if the decals were re- usable, instead of one-use things...because the ability to choose the color of your car each day without an enormous amount of garbae would be neat.

You're a tad nihilistic about all this, [jscottpete]. Bad day?
