there's nothing quite as unstylish as a floor length wedding dress and yards and yards of white (virginal) train thats been dragged through a soggy westminster even if there are yards and yards of cute little bridesmaids attempting to hold it out of the puddles.
what a disaster if one of these cute
kiddies or the bride herself slips on all this wet messy satin.
well it does rain in london quite often even on a royal wedding day, so lets produce a waterproof wedding dress and a head-dress with veil that acts as a fashionable guttering that cleanly carries all that water away from the bride.
just had a thought; rain, white wedding dresses and horses - don't lets even go there...

Gore-Tex, I think the brand name is. Waterproof but allows water vapour (steam/gasseous water) to leave the body. I don't think we want Willy to be known as Wet Willy after the consummation of the vows. |

I see it now, Kate walking down the aisle with steam
all around her. The look on William's face would be
unbelievable, I'd bet. |

It should be white neoprene |

This would also reduce food stains, such that Brautkleid bleibt Brautkleid und Blaukraut bleibt Blaukraut. |

As Wossname approaches a puddle, some latter-day Walter
Raleigh darts out of the crowd & throws his plastic mac
across it -- then falls dead at her feet, riddled with bullets by
the SAS snipers on the rooftops. |

White latex, with a seam right up the err...

You see, here's the underlying problem. Very few other
nationalities would even consider inventing a word like
"Brautkleid" and, if they did, they would use to mean
something like "industrial effluent" or "hernia". |

The Germans do it so that other nationalities don't have to.
Selfless, really. |
|
|
(The reason ""brautkleid" doesn't mean "hernia" is that
German has another, even better word for that.) |
|
|
Yes, but "Leistenbruch" just sounds like the name of an industrial
town. |
|
|
I was thinking of "eingeweidebruch." |
