(I know I'll get MFD'd for "flavor," but this seems different
enough to me...)
This came to me while trying to think up clever cake
toppers
for my daughter's wedding cake(my assignment).
An ensemble of (probably plastic) miniature babies in
various
poses and with assorted tools such
as trowels, rollers,
brushes, each positioned to look as if they are putting the
finishing touches on the cake they have constructed.
I have considerable experience modeling with polymer
clay. Seems like the best material for this.
Believe me, I searched for something like this...
Marzipan babies.

gotta love this - James Bond cake (nothing to do with the idea really)

I had no idea there were so many to choose from until I really started looking for them. I didn't see any like what you've described, so bun. [+] |

//I had no idea there were so many to choose from // |

Neither did I...or how cheesy most of them are. |
May I suggest "Wedding Cake Workers", "Candy Wedding Cake Workers" or something like that? I already bunned for the idea, but the title is nondescript. [+] |

[bb] I'd go with that, except when I searched for
something like this, I found the most using 'cake
toppers.' How about 'wedding cake figures'? Believe
me, I tried. |

I don't want to start the slide into a list, but would it be in bad taste to have a bunch of Chilean miners struggling free from the depths of the cake? |
bit like the new christmas version of chilean whack a mole |
The point about mining makes me think that it would be nice to have an exploratory drilling rig on top of the cake and offer guests a core sample of cake instead of a slice of cake. |
bun for cake mining accidents and sinkholes |
Ooh, now you 1/2 Bakers are starting to cook! I
like
the miners idea. Some are sensitive about 'drilling'
out here in the west...not sure about the rig. Core
samples is great, though. Maybe one 'worker'
peeking
out of a hole, shovel in hand, a pile of crumbs
next to the hole.. |
(I was worried that some jack-booted halfbaker
[who
shall remain nameless] might come in here and
smush
my cake.) |
Hey, look at that over there! (Here's GROG, pointing away from the cake while simultaneously and stealthily fetching a finger full of frosting) |
WIngèd cherubim ? Oh, and a tiny model 12-guage for potting them ... |
[8th] //WIngèd cherubim// |
This gives me another idea...a single cherub, Cupid,
in fact, shooting love arrows into the bride and
groom figures, lying dead on the cake. Slightly
morbid, though.... |

For numerous clever cake toppers {along with many other wedding tra(vesties) - sorry, tra(ditions,)} see [link.] |

Thanks for the link, [csea]. Looks like a subsidiary of
the Fail Blog, unfortunately. Mostly Fail. |

// bride and groom figures, lying dead on the cake // |

How about a couple of blood pools, crime scene tape, and a group of CSI's gathering evidence ? |
"Reverend Green, in the vestry, with the candlestick .." |
[8th] I'll run that one by the prospective couple... |
8th, do I sense a bit of bitter resentment? |

Yeah...something that could be considered a
*motive,* perhaps? |
