It sucks having to troublshoot a computer in a strange place and then have to haul in a 14" monitor just to see what's going on. It would be handy to have a small portable 800x600 screen, like what's in a PDA, that has a VGA input, so you can hook it up to this computer. It could have batteries in it, or a standard computer power cord connector.

How about putting your diagnostic software on a tablet PC, and killing two birds with one stone?

I was thinking something that might cost $100 - $150, rather than a $2000 - $2500 tablet PC. Do they have a VGA *input*, anyway?

The concept is already in existance. Professional TV crews use LCD screens as small as 3 inches on thier production trucks. Being that they are powered by an external 12V power supply, a self contained case with a battery compartment would be ideal.

I use my vga pda to rdp or vnc over the lan or wifi and it achieves exactly what you're wanting to do.

[neilp] What about if the machine was having problems and wasn't getting to a network state, or not launching sshd or VNChost? Would you like one of these bad boys to show you whats going on with the machine?

I'd like one anyway [lawpoop], perhaps you could get an adapter to get your PSP to do this..
