Scalextric sets seem to be getting increasingly complicated and ambitious lately, often featuring gravity-defying upside down track, loop the loops & rollercoaster corkscrews. The logical next step is surely a 2 sided mobius strip track...obvious really.
Excellent for easing your kids into the fascinating
world of bizarre geometry, before befuddling them with the more advanced "Zeno paradox" scalextric set (featuring 1:24 scale motorised Achilles & tortoise)
The big version

Scalextric
http://www.scalextric.co.uk/ Those of us who live in the USA may not have heard of this brand name (I hadn't). [krelnik, Oct 04 2004]

A noble idea with the correct spelling of scalextric. The only problem is how to hold the track. |
Not a problem. From the edge.
Category: shouldn't this be in
Product: toy? |

one word - maglev tech. oh thats two - ace! + |

The only problem is how the car will stay on the track, e.g. while going round the *outside* of a loop. |
(Attaching the cars to the track so they can't fly off ever would take the skill out of the game.) |
The cars would *still* get stuck on the corners. |
Neat. FYI, Scalextric is a primarily UK brand name, the generic term for this in the US is "slot cars". |
Tyco uses the magnets in the cars to attract to the tracks, and the cars stay on upside down. |
True [Krelnik], but 'All that slots is not Scalextric'. Not even in the UK! - who can forget the execrable Total Control Racing (TCR). Bun for the idea as well. |
