The iPhone is an expensive item, more costly than many small laptops. Being small, it's an easy item to steal, but not if Apple decides to adopt my idea from reading this, and equip the next generation with a tiny "kensington" slot, enabling the phone to be simply cable locked in the same manner as a
laptop.

[+] then you could attach it to a cement block for something that's both fashionable and slighly portable. |
//Sigh... what's with the Apple specificity?// No one would steal anything but an iPhone. A lanyard hole would deface the otherwise perfect design of the case, whereas a tiny Kensington slot would be completely unobtrusive. |
A Kensington has to be the most useless thing ever. A crook doesn't even have to break it, because it usually just just pops right out of the slot. iPhones also have a unique ability that laptops don't; if you need to walk away you can put it in your pocket. |
Recognising the oeverwhelming desireability of Apple products is not arrogance, it's just reality as confirmed by the market. Adding the Kensington slot serves to confirm this. |
The fact that only the iPhone would have this slot, places their products in a higher bracket for marketing purposes.... ie non iPhones don't need this as no one would steal them - do you get it now? |
Of course few people are going to carry around a cable. That's not the point. The point is marketing and desire. |

You're coming at this wrong - you don't lock the phone to a something (concrete block, desk, whatever), you lock it to yourelf, in much the same way as some people keep their wallet on a chain.
But yes, a feature for all portable electronics, not just iCrap. |

Yeah, but [xenzag]'s right, really. |
