i-need

send your goods to someone who needs them most

Suppose... you live in the 3d world and you are in desperate need of something . Write your need ("i need a pair of shoes size 36 for my child so he can walk to school"), why you need it (we have only one pair so only one of our children can go to school), and your address by mail to i-need. Your mail will be posted on the i-need site (search by key-words). Someone from the 1st world might want to send you your need. If so, the need should be removed from the site and sent to the person who needs it.

(I'm sorry for the people that don't have access to a computer with internet within few km of their home -or the ones who don't have shoes to get there).

- Only goods, no money.

- Only request that are non repetitive

NB: he! you selfish bastards: it's about GIVING, not exchanging goods!

       1) I think just about every charity - whether they work in foreign countries or not - will accept just about anything you send them.

       2) Why not accept money? Money can buy size 36 shoes even when no one has any to donate.

       3) Do the impoverished have e-mail?

       4) Why did you post this in Other:General when the idea belongs in Culture:Website?

       We're often in need of things here in the 3d world. Its a whole other dimension on the 2d world. And more expensive too.

       How about a goods-and-services exchange, instead? For example, I need:

       * a set of kids' bunkbeds
* a couch
* a new mattress for a double bed

       ... but I don't have the money to handle all of these plus the first-last-and-deposit move-in costs on our new place. So I can offer, in exchange:

       * a 9" cast-iron skillet
* a decade of the Best American Short Story series, 1991 - 2001
* a nice upholstered chair with wooden legs that screw off, for easy passage through doorways or furniture-toboggan races down hillsides
* twelve weeks of English lessons, and a makeover

       Hm. I could use a makeover. (And, some would argue, English lessons.)

       I have a cast-iron skillet, but I think it's only 6". Is 6" big enough or do you need 9"?
waugsqueke, Jun 05 2002

       Well, you can still brain someone with a 6", but a well-placed smack upside the head with a 9" skillet will kill a man.

       If you wish to use the pan for its intended use, I guess it depends. Some people are fine with a 6", but most people like to think they need a 9". It depends, you know, on the size of your ... omelette.

       thank you 1%, you stopped me saying something that I would have regretted in the morning.

       Ummm how is a third world family only able to provide one of their children with a pair of shoes going to be able to have a computer with internet access?
kaz, Jun 05 2002

       And its not a third world family, its a 3d world family. Quarter of a shilling, that.

       3D world, I've seen one - it's called "Earth"

       I like it! the idea of what is needed is what creates value ! e.g Afganistan needs cloths and stuff for existance ..this is high value for them. They have minerals ..e.g lapis ,gold, neat hats , I need these things that creates value to me! we trade and we are all happy ! Iam starting on my list now .. 1. english lessons 2. gold 3.lapis well you get the picture ...a ebay of free trade .. excellent
