First of all, this is not a corny "hypnotize the audience to make them think they watched an awesome movie" idea.
Essentially this movie would be an audio track that relaxes and then hypnotizes the audience.
Hypnosis is a generally relaxing and enjoyable experience, but requires a special environment
to work. A cinema is perfect for hypnosis because it is comfortable, quiet and dark.
Using a cinema as a venue for hypnotism will have a much broader appeal than listening to a hypnosis CD (which somehow seems a lonely and peculiar activity). Also, from my understanding of hypnosis, sharing the experience with other people very important in inducing a hypnotic effect. Hypnosis is essentially a *shared* suspension of disbelief - usually the shared suspension of disbelief is between the hypnotist and the hypnotised, but in this case the shared disbelief is between members of the audience.
The movie would start as audio/visual and then fade to audio only. The hypnotic audio track would guide each member of the audience on a journey through their imagination (wow, that sentence sounds lame). The hypnotic track would be accompanied by soothing music/sounds.
It would be fairly cheap movie to make and might become popular because of the novelty of being hypnotized (or at least very relaxed).
Speaking of hypnotic...

Whats the matter with the awesome movie suggestion? You could also suggest they would be satisfied by some delicious Junior Mints. |

I'm not sure I would be entirely
comfortable being hypnotised in room full
of strangers. Maybe a straight-to-DVD
movie? |

Same effect could be had, for most males, with an hour long scene of Keira Knightley just ... being Keira Knightley. That would guide me on a journey through my imagination. |

Baked, but I think they call it local content television, at least over here. The developers had toyed with the idea of mass hyposis, long before the advent of audio visiual electrical equipment. Back in those days it was called church/shul/mosque/temple. |

Yes. Just ask the 80% it did work on - they'll do anything you tell them to. |
