flavor boost pacifier reduces crying

if a pacifier gets sweeter anytime a baby gurgles or coos, yet remains unflavored during crying, the baby might cry less.

I favor only beneficial reinforcement for babies.

That said, someone on quora asked about how to get them to cry less.

I think that if a pacifier gets sweeter anytime a baby gurgles or coos, yet remains unflavored during crying, the baby might cry less.

Some chemicals are 100,000 times sweeter than sugar (sucronic acid) so the flavor reserve should be able to last a while.

Well, this may give us a clue to why you behave as you do ...

But if you can find a more appropriate category I will give the youngling a croissant.

Babies, as I understand it, cry for attention. Rewarding the lack of need for attention in a developing brain could have seriously detrimental side effects. [+]

I believe Russians use vodka to calm babies, which would, in light of this idea, explain a lot.
