Who wants to wake up, bathe, shave, and put on your nicest clothes just to spend an hour half asleep, standing up and singing, sitting down and listening to someone speak, shaking hands with whomever happens to be sitting nearby, and to and be asked in the middle of it all to put money in a plate.. Instead, just roll out of bed, dig the sand out of your eyes, and log into e-church. Listen to a streamed hymn, listen to a streamed sermon, and then afterwards, if you feel like meeting anyone, hang out in the lobby, and chat away with the rest of the congregation. Tithe via paypal, and the church elders can kick out the trolls.

It's even called eChurch http://yoyo.cc.mona...ackcat/eCHURCH.html
But I am fairly certain that this is a joke site, not serious. [gamerchyk, Oct 21 2004]

Church of the Larger Fellowship http://www.uua.org/clf/
The Unitarian Universalist "online church" for people without a UU church in their area. [gamerchyk, Oct 21 2004]

choirboy220: So, you come here often?

Subgenius isn't quite what I was looking for. And I meant a church with no physical location, that exists only online.

Would the object of worship be a faster clock speed or a larger memory device ?
normzone, Jan 27 2004

Well, theoretically God. And not the tiny variety like on Penny-Arcade.

Many seek God in unusual places.

Especially at the Subgenius church! [jutta] did you actually visit that site? This does not meet *my* definition of a church, and I am an atheist. Although, with a philosophy of:
"X-Day is coming! The Blessed Day when the Alien Sex Goddesses shall at last arrive on Earth and proceed with THE RUPTURE! All card-carrying, Truly Ordained, PAID UP SubGenius Ministers shall be SNATCHED UP into the Cosmos to spend Eternity (or at least the Journey to Planet X) engaging in a VAST ORGAZMONIC RITUAL OF SEXHURT!!" I could be persuaded to join.

Hmm. Maybe I should just stop staying up so late Saturday nights.
