Imagine you're on a diet but you really crave cheesy wotsits or salt and vinegar crisps. Your dilemma is solved by being able to buy a packet of the powdered flavouring geniuinely used on such calorific snacks. You then dip and lick your fingers as if you've just finished off a a pack and get all the
flavour without the calories or guilt.
fun dip
http://www.bradkent.../cgi-bin/cdb.pl?304 comes with a candy stick that can "licked and dipped" into the flavoured powder. note the nutritional info. [mihali, Aug 27 2001, last modified Oct 21 2004]
Why McDonald's Fries Taste So Good
http://www.rense.com/general7/whyy.htm Read . . . and be enlightened. An excellent article on the food flavorings industry, excerpted from the book "Fast Food Nation." [bristolz, Mar 26 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004]

I'm not sure, but I think the chemical flavoring in such snacks is where a lot of the calories are. |

|
Besides, the dipping and licking part is kinda creepy. |

I bet as a kid skewball ate Kool-Aid drink powder using the *dip and lick* method. Save time and money - just shake a few spices directly onto your tongue (Mrs. Dash brand, seasoned salt, seasoned pepper, there's lots to choose from) and savour the flavour! Mmmm! <Gag, cough, choke, sputter, sputter> |

Actually, [botf], the flavouring *is* available as an individual item. My local supermarket sells "salt and vinegar-flavour seasoning". |

Baked since I was a small child. Salt 'n' Shake crisps were totally plain with a sachet of salt which my extremely health conscious mother would confiscate "for my own good". |

I think I need to lie down. |

//I'm intrigued and completly lost all at once// bob, if you press the word "edit" you will be able to copy/paste any of those afterthoughts which you had into the previous comment. Then you hit "OK". Then you use another feature called "delete" to delete those now redundant afterthoughts. Both the "edit" and "delete" features are hovering below the date of your annotation. In the future, you'll simply be able to add an afterthought without all the fuss and bother. I often have afterthoughts. By way of example, I'll have one after I hit the "OK" button.
Moments later: Another thing that is done in the halfbakery is to quote a previous comment - not by quote marks - but by these slash marks fore and aft of the quote: //blah blah blah//. You'll note I did this with your question/comment in order to draw your attention. This calls attention to a previous comment in a way that "quote marks" cannot, given the wide range of references cited on a particular page in this forum, which may not occur in as close a proximity as this particular Q and A.
You're new, so it's to be expected that there would be some unfamiliarity with the well-thought out construction of the site. It is, however - only working against your favor, if that is what you seek - to point out the "brilliant" or "genius" behind your own idea. I did so earlier today in one of my own ideas, not to mock you - but someone else. That particular "idea" will disappear within a day or so, as it was just illustrating a point about having original thoughts, and thus - is not an "idea" at all. BTW, good one: //... have more important things to do than chew.// |
