Based on the format of the excellent "Kim Jong Il looking at things" (see link), there is a clear and obvious need for a website blog that displays a series of photographs entitled Crazed Jihadists Looking At Things.

There are enough photographs floating around of these mad people fondling weapons, but what about images of them examining the sort of everyday objects common place in the modern world?

Here are a few examples: "Jihadist Looking at Stuffed Birds"; "Jihadist Looking at Deodorant" or "Jihadist Looking at a Beach Ball"

I don't think that people who are brainwashed can look at something and really have compassion or understanding. This is just my opinion.

But they could have jealousy or desire.

I would tender that the brains are not "washed" so much as "dyed".
FlyingToaster, Jan 12 2015

// dyed // quite possibly, but sadly not actually dead (yet).

       /brainwashed/

Does brainwashing necessitate a complete and utter washing, such that aesthetic sensibilities etc are washed away as well? Can a brainwashed individual not love?
bungston, Jan 13 2015

[bungston] That is a good question. I guess I was thinking that [xen] thought this idea might get terrorists to have some feelings about what they are doing. I have never been totally brainwashed, as far as I know, so the question really is WHAT the individual loves. I would think they (the terrorists) might love to kill, or carry out orders, but compassion is something different from love. Just my opinion.

//brainwashed //dyed// // or perhaps "photoshopped": darken a few bits here and there, draw some lines, whiteout some spots...

Anyways [+] but it's just a sop to my prejudice: ooh look, mean jihadist longing for civilization.
FlyingToaster, Jan 13 2015

//I don't think that people who are brainwashed can look at something and really have compassion or understanding// Jihadists are no different to any other set of combatants during a war. Yes they target civilians - just as the USA did when they dropped an atomic bomb on the citizens of Hiroshima, during the second world war. War is hell, and all of those who participate in it are capable of exterminating large numbers of civilians, then claiming the mythical high moral ground.
