we used to have t-shirts and pencils and tiny stuffed fishbone/buns and logos and paperweights, but now we appear to have nothing... and i have the urge to bulk up my collection.

for instance, a mug would be nice stating: HB - make mine a double

or coasters with the yin/yang fish/bun.

and there should be about twenty t-shirt designs to choose from by now and somehow, magically there are none.

UPDATE: the games are on. bring your best ideas forward, your store or mine. if you are feeling lazy and would like to submit logos or images and have them affixed to cafepress items, send the JPG's to ksrasra AT gmail DOT com or link them here. there is no commission on designs that are not my own.

SHOPS: taglines as t-shirts (and other products). listed below under the tagline itself or on my HB page.

Annotation:

I can't sell stuff from the halfbakery site (ancient curse, long story) - so go ahead and create what you like, but do it for yourself as a tribute to the halfbakery, not as a jutta thing or an official halfbakery thing. (However, see link for old t-shirts and pencils.)

Using the logo is okay, as long as it's on topic, not a commercial endorsement of something else, etc.

Using other people's art is even better, as long as the artist is fine with it. (Link to artwork from here if you want k_sra to use it.)

If anything ends up making money, give some to the artists. Thanks!
jutta, Sep 17 2007

We all need a little halfbaked.
reensure, Sep 17 2007

//I can't profit from the halfbakery (ancient curse, long story)//

wow, weird. i would feel a bit odd profiting myself if others wanted to buy the stuff i created... seeing as how it's not my site, but i long for a good old-fashioned t-shirt design fest!
k_sra, Sep 17 2007

I want a Jutta fan club T-shirt. We will be called "The Degenerates".

(I honestly am a fan. I like what you have done here.)
GutPunchLullabies, Sep 17 2007

[Steve DeGroof] did a great cafepress issue of a logo he designed. Can't find it now, but then again I haven't looked that hard...
wagster, Sep 17 2007

I have access to some saddles. Easily transformed into a enamelled croissant, that's if someone really desires to pedal whilst seated upon a bun.
skinflaps, Sep 17 2007

Well, what else would you possibly be seated on?
jutta, Sep 19 2007

thanks for the pic, [jutta]. can you tell me what fonts were used for the HB name and tagline?
k_sra, Sep 19 2007

       Impact and Trebuchet
hippo, Sep 19 2007

really? i thought it was arial black and arial...
k_sra, Sep 19 2007

Depends on which browser you're using. Arial is a fall back, but hippo has the first choices right.
jutta, Sep 19 2007

I never realized how delicious the logo looked.
GutPunchLullabies, Sep 19 2007

       - Small request: Whatever we do, can we please use fewer than four different fonts on the same artwork? (Including the sign.)
- If you want to pixillate to go with the AI theme, bigsleep, I'd just pixillate eveything - logo, slogan, and the word halfbakery.
- I wouldn't include www.halfbakery.com at all - just have it say halfbakery or halfbakery.com. They'll figure the "www" part out.
jutta, Sep 19 2007

There are four fonts on your artwork, bigsleep: The handwritten font on the sign, the "halfbakery" font, the font you use for the subtitle, and the pixilated font you use for the slogan. (That is no longer Trebuchet after you're done with it.)

// The pixellated tagline (still trebuchet) gives it a flavour of the website on screen.
Oh, I thought you were going with a retro-computer look because of the "artificial intelligence" theme.
How the fonts are rendered in your browser is pretty much between you and your operating system, not so much an aspect of the website. Some operating systems tend towards harsh pixilations, other smoothe it out more.
jutta, Sep 19 2007

If there are ideas that you like that have a single-paragraph description, you could put that on there, so people have something to read with their morning coffee! (With the author's permission, of course.) There are some good ones that are rather short - I think "Evil Laugh-activated Hand Dryer" is just about a one-liner.
jutta, Sep 19 2007

I'd like to put some of Bris's sketches on a few mugs - a Cafepress cost-price sort of thing. I don't think she would mind as she was happy for me to use them before. I don't think this would be out of order, would it...?
wagster, Sep 20 2007

       a hullaballoon mug? : ) cute.
k_sra, Sep 20 2007

Did bristolz give you permission to use her artwork on cafepress-style merchandise? If yes, go ahead. If no, I don't want to violate copyrights, and I don't want to put her estate into a position where they need to step in and stop something from happening that they didn't want, rather than giving permission to do it beforehand.

Sometimes people can feel strongly about whether they want or don't want their relatives' work to take on a life of its own. I like bristolz's drawings a lot, and I think she would have been thrilled, too, but I don't think that overrides concern for the feelings of her relatives.
jutta, Sep 20 2007

Dang, you're probably right. I mean I know you're right about the copyright violation, but you're probably also right about not doing it.
wagster, Sep 20 2007

we'll just have to dream about them... and [bristolz].
k_sra, Sep 20 2007

The quote is the beginning of a song, lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, for, unsurprisingly, "You Only Live Twice", the James Bond movie. (It starts with Bond faking his death, get it?) Bristolz quoted from it in an idea for a magnetic car-lifter, because precisely such a lifter, lowered from a helicopter, is used in that movie to throw a car full of henchmen into the ocean near Tokyo. As far as I can tell, only UnaBubba actually got that connection - I certainly didn't!
jutta, Sep 21 2007

I would like some hb cloth table napkins...if anyone else would.
xandram, Sep 21 2007

// I like this idea... K_sra, are there any kinds of merchandise I should not request because you can't or won't do it?//

[21Quest], I am limited at this time to the products offered at cafepress myself, but if you ask you usually receive at the HB. (Unless you are asking for a perpetual motion machine that defies gravity.) (Oh, my. I'm capitalizing! Does that make me a Capitalist?)

I personally will not be making anything having to do with [bristolz], for instance, even though she was very sweet to me and actually one of the first to invite me to an off-shoot HB groupsite. I don't have permission, first of all. Add to that, I'm not sure I could do her justice. She was an exceptional and interesting woman.

Right off the bat, I'm making a series of basic logo and tagline apparel and gifts. If you would like a certain product with a certain tagline, I will try to accommodate you in my own sweet time. I'm not taking any commission on this.
k_sra, Sep 21 2007

two shops are up: "thunk." and "carpe demi." see links.
k_sra, Sep 21 2007

Nice work K_sra, those prices are in $'s are the products availiable in europe?
skinflaps, Sep 21 2007

Am I the only one who can't get on to ANY cafepress sites?
jtp, Sep 21 2007

//Am I the only one who can't get on to ANY cafepress sites?//

You at work? firewall 'n' all.
skinflaps, Sep 21 2007

I am at work, but I'm the bloody admin! Oh hold on...

<Remembers some weird guy in accounts years ago who spent all his time looking at some website showing mugs with croissants on them... had to stop him somehow... runs into computer room and twiddles knobs on firewall>
jtp, Sep 21 2007

[skinflaps], cafepress seems to indicate that they ship to other countries, so shirley they can do the math on your credit card. anyone brave enough to try?

[bigsleep], 'Out-of-Focus'; 'I think, therefore...' and 'ceci n'est pas...' are on the docket to be shopped.
k_sra, Sep 21 2007

I've ordered plenty from Cafepress to the UK. It's a steal with the exchange rate but you can be waiting a while for delivery...
wagster, Sep 21 2007

Wow, k_sra! I hope they have one button that lets you add "all products" to the list - otherwise you must be clicking your little butt off! Those look really nice.

Hey, should we do the ceci n'est pas .. as a Magritte fake? You know, do a rework of the croissant in the style of the pipe in the original--?

I want "Not just a think tank. An entire army of think." (Army in italics.) And "Call Ambulance, Rebuild Kitchen" would look good on an apron.
jutta, Sep 21 2007

// I want "Not just a think tank. An entire army of think." (Army in italics.)//

I'd buy that. thats my favorite I think.

On a side note, I'd like them to have the .com at the end. I'd love for more people to discover this site without having to ask about the shirt.
bleh, Sep 24 2007

i tried to put the website domain on the back, but couldn't manage and [jutta] wasn't terribly interested in the concept either.
k_sra, Sep 24 2007

"think tank" shop is up (see link)
k_sra, Sep 24 2007

       //21 Bun salute//

       is that like 10 and 1/2 moonings? : )
k_sra, Sep 24 2007

       "tempus fudge-it" shoppe [link]

       {later: and "The Out-of-Focus Group"}
k_sra, Sep 24 2007

Hmm... [Anathema] you mean to say you never had an account before this? I used to visit the 'Bakery years before I got an account and yet I'd be hard pressed to remember even one username before I actually joined.

As far as the HB goods, my favorites would be polo shirts with either buns or fishbones as the logo.
acurafan07, Sep 24 2007

//the onlooker sees most of the game//gets less bruises, less knocked out teeth and very little of the buzz.

AD, I don't believe you - you've had an account here before.
po, Sep 24 2007

       very kind, [21Quest]. i admire your enthusiasm. : )

[po], we need a new tagline: come for the croissants, stay for the buzz.

[jutta], belatedly answering your query about adding items to the shop. yes, i can click one button and add everything. then i deselect the items i don't want, like the cds, books and calendars, then i adjust the size of the image on some of the smaller products (buttons, et al). takes about a half hour a shop start to finish. apparently i love the 'bakery... that or i love t-shirts.
k_sra, Sep 24 2007

Wow, [k sra], well done for going ahead and baking this. Nice one! I've ordered a t-shirt and mug from the 'army of think' store.
imaginality, Sep 25 2007

"I think, therefore I am thinking" added. "Nice swing. No follow-through." added.

       [links]
k_sra, Sep 25 2007

i've added an odds-and-ends Miscellaneous Store. feel free to make suggestions of what you might like. i'll try to add it there. [see link]
