'shaved head' implants

 subdermal implants on the scalp that mimic hair stubble

This idea is for bald men to look like they have the stubble of a shaved head on their bald areas. Tiny black hypoallergenic flakes are implanted into the skin. This makes the skin resemble a shaved head.

Implants are already popular among the piercing/tattoo crowd, so there is nothing new as far as implanting small artificial objects in the skin.

Of course it would take a lot of time to implant enough flakes to mimic shaved hair, but then so does implant surgery, etc.

       Yeah, tattoo is a good/simpler idea. But I wonder if the 3D-ness of a small fleck implant would look more realistic.

       Definately, if that's the look you're going for. The shaved-bald men I know shave every day though, so it's just black dots on their scalp. Plus your idea would only work for the completely bald, or you may end up accidentially shaving off hundreds of dollars of implants.

       Wel, if they're subdermal, it shouldn't matter. And hairs are very touch sensitive -- I can imagine someone else confusing them, but I doubt someone shaving their own head would confuse them. Also, by the time you need a shave, the hairs should be long enough to be visibly different than the subdermal flecks.   

       And then even completed bald guys still have the ring of hair around the head, so even they still have to watch out.

       I think people are supposed to have around 150 hairs per square centemeter on their head. Bar you use a shotgun or something similar the operation could take too long. With hair plugs the hair is longer so you don't need as many to cover up a bald area.

       You could do this in stages, like reverse balding. That way you spread payments out over time, and it isn't such a shock to you and the people you see everyday.   

       Instead of implainting things one-by-one, you can have an instrument that might have some 100 prickers on it that does a whole bunch in one stab.
