Completely avoid the 'what do you want to eat' 'I don't care, anything but x' song and dance with the significant other. Stop by a His and Hers, where we merge completely different and often polar opposite cuisine tastes into one beautiful Yin/Yang-shaped menu. We license polar opposite chains under
one roof to satisfy the impossible family who always end up either settling for the toll road mall food court or eating grilled chicken breast somewhere.

Bickering/criticizing/arguing and whatnot is what family is all about, so this idea probably fails to solve the "problem" identified. |

We really could have separate fridges. I can't have a lot of soy. She can't handle lactose. In a family of 4, we buy 4 different kinds of milk. My favorite foods (like salmon) she literally does gag on, and I can't stand the kiddie-food she likes (Spaghetti-O's and such). It's more than just a power struggle, it's a real palate incompatibility that pushes us into the same tired restaurants that cook the narrow margin of foods that manage to meet both our tastes. |

You might have to move to a bigger city. You may find that, even there, only 5% of restaurants can cater for both of you, but at least it'll be 5% of a larger number. |

In any case, I sympathize. I don't think anyone has ever said "Grounds for divorce? Irreconcilable metabolic differences", but it does make things harder. |

One eats Chinese, the other eats in the back kitchen, for Animal Planet style entertainment [+]. |

+ I like the idea. It's almost a necessity with some people.
In my case, he should wear ear plugs and I would like to be
able to talk to everyone in the restaurant, so besides food
differences, we have just *differences*!

Isn't that a coffee place? |

Why not A place that lets half the table order take out, and provides furniture and place settings as required. Better to sell half a loaf, than none at all. |
