Incidentally, has anyone noticed how quiet it is without thumbwax? (jutta, I'm not trying to turn this into a 'Care in the Community' project, honest!) |
I think this would be an interesting feature. Like it or not,
it is a community. Just witness PeterSealy's joy for
Susen... |

just practicing...you never know when you'll need to remember how to VOTE effectively. |

I think of "last visited" as private information; I don't think giving it out for everyone is a good idea. |
Allowing users to selective publish that information would be possible, but is a minor payoff for (right now) a huge increase in complexity (making user-accounts configurable.) |
What about a more vague "Has visited within the last seven
days [yes or no]" ...something to give an idea that
someone is still around, but not specific enough to allow
one to know when the someone was around. |
Of course, none of this would have helped with our
concern for rayfo, since he presumably hasn't even been
visiting. It may have just worried us more. |
Good point. Some sort of binary marker for seriously stale accounts ("don't expect instant feedback from this one") would probably be a good thing and not violate privacy all that badly. |
But you're right, nothing of this would help solve the real problem that's bugging us. |
The point about privacy is well taken jutta. I'm certainly not trying to suggest that people should be tracked on and off the site if that's not what they want.
Of course, if anyone desperately wants to contact or be contacted by any halfbaker, there always the opportunity to use e-mail addresses under your personal details (if it's not there, then it's reasonably safe to assume that the person doesn't want you to use it). |
Poor old rayfo's last couple of ideas got slaughtered. I suspect that he's put a cardboard box on his head and gone away to sulk somewhere. I know I would! |

//Incidentally, has anyone noticed how quiet it is without thumbwax?// Flattered is my middle name.(I was elsewhere for a few months.) ; ) Thanks. |

Blimey, thumb'! Talk about a slow reaction time. Have you been smoking those herbal cigarettes again? |
Nope - haven't had any during this entire century |

Just thought I'd churn this one for good measure - adding that I'd like to see it implemented in the form of a rising loaf of bread - or some kind of yeast depiction. [+] |
