I know that "Blue Tooth" technology is still new but.... Why not use an ear piece that fits almost totally in the ear with a transmitter/receiver so a motorcyclist can still talk hands free on the cell phone just like people in cars. the Ear Piece would be a microphone and a speaker and the receiver
that plugs into the phone would be small and fit on the belt next to the phone.
Cordless earpiece telephone

Cordless Earpiece
http://www.microelec.com/ear.htm This sort of thing is common among purveyors of "spy gear". You could certainly plug the induction loop into a mobile phone, but you don't get a microphone. [egnor, May 13 2001, last modified Oct 04 2004]
Bluetooth article

amusing myself to death
http://www.patricki...hives/00000176.html This rather dodgy journal entry claims someone actually had a "blobject-styled cordless earpiece and microphone combo for his mobile phone". [egnor, May 13 2001, last modified Oct 04 2004]

It will feature a wireless earpiece with a directional microphone inside ... and a variety of colors. The Sonic Crystal is expected to cost a little more than $100..." This isn't the same, but you can get a motorcycle helmet with built-in earpiece. In any case, I'm not sure why a motorcyclist couldn't use a wired headset; surely there's enough room around the neck for a little wire? |
|
|
Nevertheless, this will surely be Baked sooner or later, energy density constraints permitting. |

A good idea for drivers, but: |

I already think people using those wired earpieces look like right twats, talking to themselves... |
|
|
It's all perception, that was just my own little gripe... |

Van Gogh had a wireless ear piece for a while, I hear. |

This is baked although I can't remember where... Is for an ericson. I found it while looking for a throat-mic handsfree kit. (Found the Throat-mic h/f kit but will wait for the price to drop from £70) |

I like the sound of a throat mike - takes me back to me special forces days (!). Where did you find it Casa? |
