Make the lenses of the glasses from monochrome LCD screens. Mount a reflective IR diode/photodarlington pair in the corner of each eyepiece, aimed at the cornea. When the eyelid occludes the eye, the IR reflectance path is broken and the LCD shutter goes transparent. So you can be seen winking. Could run of a small lithium battery - the electronics could be integrated into the sidepieces. Cost about USD $500 apiece. |
