The designers of these bland and boring housing estates we see all
around us could easily spice them up by including a little cunning
into their layout.
A long, gently curving row of houses or block of flats could be built
in the shape of a section of an ellipse, with a tree or a streetlight
at
each focus.
This would create a "whispering gallery" effect: a pedestrian stood by
the tree could have a conversation with a friend next to the
streetlight at the other end of the road.
More complex layouts could include several whispering galleries,
providing endless amusement to the local children. You may wish to
provide the police with a map, to stop them being too useful to drug
dealers.
