The power of modern computers makes me a little
sloppy
with software. Right now, I have a whole bunch of
programs open*. Every now and again my computer
makes
some noise, most often it's an ad, or a video attached to
a
news article I was sort of reading. Pinpointing it can be
difficult.
So, there needs to be a little application,
possibly
sitting in the audio system tray, that lets you know the
source of any current noise. I could just keep it in the
corner of my second monitor and refer to it whenever I
start hearing an unsolicited noise. Then I should have
option of muting/tracing the exact source.
*Word/Excel, Adobe Illustrator, ImageJ, Endnote, Origin

somewhere to indicate which window(s) are
generating sound. |

And a button to jump you right there. This happens all the
time on FB that you can have two videos with sound and you
cant find the first to turn it off because its too far up the
newsfeed. |

My personal pet hate (I think the English language needs a
word here... oh, wait, goddit "1/favorite") is when two
copies of a video are playing 0.3s apart. |

Just as I was typing this, a weather report started playing in
another tab.... you couldn't make it up. |

Google Chrome now says "This tab is playing audio" when
you hover the mouse over it, thanks Google, we can file this
under solved. |
