When jogging yesterday, I spied at the side of the trail a multitude of gnawed pine cones and heard the chatter above of a bushy tailed squirrel. I paused to get a glimpse of the creature which promptly hid on the far side of the trunk, and it immediately hit me (the thought) that a wheeled jack-in-the-box
scarecrow was needed.
The meter high scarecrow upper body would sway on a spring waist attached to a caster wheel and the whole caboodle would be steered by a three meter long, curved, telescopic aluminum bar. When wishing to watch or photograph such varmints as snakes in the grass, woodpeckers, woodchucks or toucans, simply hunker down and wheel the thingamajiggle around to the far side of the shy critter.
Moving like an excited eight year old, the Jack-out-of-the-box will fool the animal to come to your side of the tree/rock/patch. A good listener who can keep up is also my wheeled scarecrow, when I'm out running or walking.
