Western Geishas
When you need a friendly voice and a break, turn to a 'geisha'. | |
Your friends are out of town. TV showing the same boring stuff. No interesting movies. Life getting you down. What do you do?
Visit your local geisha house. In there, you will find pleasant people for conversation (and backrubs and shoulderrubs if needed), a hot delicious helping of soul food,
relaxing music, and most importantly, an ear to rant and whine to.
Stress destroyed for a nominal price.
Tubs/showers with never-ending hot water optional.

I often wish there were such a thing as visiting geishas. Unfortunately the only type that advertise offer more services than are required with children in the house. |
You can tell the kids later that when you were in the bedroom hollering "Yippeekiyee" as she was hollering "Ride 'em Cowboy" that you were teaching each other your respective languages. |
It's not what I tell them that's the problem, but what they tell mummy. |
No way. Those Geisha chicks are scary as hell. I just saw a show about them on Discovery Channel last week. |

<random interjection> Memoirs of a Geisha, Arthur Golden. A book I really liked. |
Sorry to continue off the topic but I have to agree with bris, that is a most excellent book. I have read and enjoyed it many times. |
I also loved 'Wild Swans' by Jung Chang. Not about geisha but the two books remind me of each other (not sure why). |
I have read that Geishas were prized for their conversational, artistic and musical abilities as much as (or even more than) their sexual ones. |
DrCurry: Right. The connotation of a geisha providing sexual services is a western myth, and their original skills (conversation, humor, wit, tradition) is what I referred to in the title of the idea. |

From what I understood, it had at least a partial basis in fact. Admitedly, geishas were more than simple whores, but I think they (at least in some cases) viewed sex as part of the holism of the service. |

"Hello, this is the Gekko. If you're looking for a backrub you probably wanted Geisha, which can save you hundreds of hours of back pain and life frustration. But thank you for calling..." |
//a hot delicious helping of soul food// O_o I... wasn't aware that geisha made chitterlings, collard greens, and bean pies. |
It really irritates me: there are no romaji --> english translation engines easily available on the web. |
in japan, these are called "hostess bars" or "piano bars." these clubs are likened to the modern versions of traditional geisha houses. young females cater to male customers - lighting their cigarettes, engaging in small talk, and pouring them drinks. sort of a "rent a friend," if you will. |
i linked you to a site about a few of these clubs popping up in the US. |
Hmmmmm.....baked geiko..... |
Besides, who needs a geisha when we've got po and blissmiss to talk to? |
so, if they're western geishas, would they still wear their make up and kimono? or would they wear t-shirts and jeans? memoirs of a geisha is good. spielberg, please dont film it. i bet you he'll put that hayley joel osment kid in there. |
Don't you talk about my friends like that. |
