Wear a Heavy Pack

So when you fall you land on it

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but usually when you drop something I think the heavier end swings to the bottom. So if you're climbing with a heavy backpack on and you fall, you'll land on the pack. Just put something soft on the inside right next to your back.

Also, put butter on the part you want to hit the ground.

There's probably a critical heaviness of pack at which it's heavy enough and contains enough padding to protect you when you fall and also heavy enough to make you fall over when carrying it.

And of course it needs to include airbags....and custard ?
normzone, Feb 06 2004

Attach cat feet to back of pack. Hey presto.
lostdog, Feb 06 2004

OK, but if your flying in to the U.S. your cat wil have to paw printed. We have credible inteligence that a cell of terror-kits are plotting to scratch our sofas.

What happens if you are walking up a hill when you fall? Will the pack protect you from tumbling down a slope?
Tranai, Feb 07 2004

       Ooh I know this one.
Nope. Well, your back I suppose.

this reminds me of a nature show where turtles were fighting for a mate and one flipped the other over and won , the other turtle couldn't get back over and died of starvation .

"The heavier object" is your backpack? And you're climbing with this thing?

       Backwards, down the hill..

Seriously, if you have to carry a lot of gear anyway, it might help to put it in a backpack. Or maybe this is a better idea for an extreme sport where people jump off buildings and stuff wearing a crash pad on their back (or front if you want to face the other way.)

Took a fall off a short cliff - OK, six feet, and landed on my backpack while camping. Broke a bottle of whiskey. Happened more than thirty years ago and I'm still saddened by it.

Musta been one heluva good whiskey [normzone]. Drinking while camping isn't that great idea - especially when it's school camp. Back in May, when I was doing my Duke of Edinburgh practice camp, my pal Cam brought some vodka and Max brought whiskey (it was a shame they all got to it before I did, it was a real good single malt...). Needless to say, people got either completely pissed or slightly merry, I went to bed coz I'm not particularly partial to Saturday Detentions, they got caught, the people who brought the drink got suspended for 3 days and the people who were drinking got a Saturday Detention. Hosted by the principal.

       Happy days!

/this reminds me of a nature show where turtles were fighting for a mate / Should I also wear a pack while fighting for a mate? Is there a particular kind of pack the chicks generally dig?
bungston, Jul 29 2005

A pack full of money, Bungston.

       Happy days, Froglet.

Flyfast, it doesn't work that way. -

//Is there a particular kind of pack the chicks generally dig?//

Well, if you sprayed some kind of pheromone on your pack it might work...
froglet, Jul 29 2005

////Is there a particular kind of pack the chicks generally dig?// I'd say a six-pack but alas this would not assist in preventing hyper-gravitational-descent related impacts.
