Waterproof book

This is comes from ruining many school textbooks with either water, milk, drool and any combination thereof. Just laminate school textbook pages. pages saved from future droolings by all students....thus saving the world of ruined books.

Saving the world of ruined texts has its costs though. 1. The school will have to limit buying political correct books so often. 2. the books will be harder to dispose of. 3. Book burning by people who didn't like school no longer brings enjoyment.

       Hmmm... lamination of textbooks would lead to an inability to pen one's thought down in those books. I mean, if I cannot doodle in my texstbook in class, whats the point of studying???   

       Although, laminating the pages of books in generals, especially those high-priced classic 1st Editions which seems to attract ketchup stronger than most collectors, would be a very sensible thing to do.

       [I2RI] May I suggest you change this idea a bit? Remove the word "laminate" and simply imply the pages are waterproof.   

       Having a schoolbook that can't be written in would be a boon for public schools. Plastic pages would last longer and the whole assembly could be tossed a washing machine at the end of a school year.

       Laminating pages is far too labour intensive a process to be worth doing. Wax-treated paper costs loads but may well be a price worth paying if your school has to buy books again and again. However, it treats only the symptom of disrespect for literature and school in general. I would love an idea which went for the cause.

       don't print - etch into rubber or plastic. I'd love to read a book in the bath but I just don't trust myself not to drop it.

       The technology is definitely out there, just not applied to the average primer (= school text book) as far as I can tell.
