Enough already with the nets, balls and other flotsam -- give us some intellectual stimulation.
A sinkable board mat and a set of figures.
Optionally can be played Sun King style while in the floating chair sipping margaritas and Coronas and getting the kids to dive and move the pieces.
underwater chess

Yes, please. This is good. And the floating lounge chair is a fine addition, with minions doing the underwater work. Just need to design a floating chess clock as well. "Hmmmm, Nf3, please. And when you've done that, swim after the clock, and bang my button, there's a good chap. While you're rushing about, a large gin and tonic would be good too, and where's the floating ashtray? I think I left my cigar in it." + |

It must be too hot outside today... |
As thoughts stray they smack together to create a fleeting utopia; water chess and floating ashtrays, the pool will never be the same... |
Get out the chips and now the dip, forget the bowl, its in the lid, |
Man, those floating golfballs hurt when phundug plays through, pool to pool... |
So the bottom of the pool is tiled and the peices are weighted? |
Love swmming. Love chess. Nuf sed. |

The title conjured up an image of two teams of sixteen people, with various representative hats on, swimming on direction of the commander of each team as each moved is played. |

(Have you been away for a while, [tc]?) |
Eugene -- I thought a non-permanent template for the bottom, but tiling will do if you can afford it, and yes, the pieces could be weighted. |
Detly -- no, I'm here, just quieter for a while, summer is here, after all :) |

Lois the Fourth? Of where? |
// Lois the Fourth // Do you mean Louis IV of France? |
yes, of France. He'd be the one that directed real ship battles in the Versailles pool lakes. |
Which gets to my next idea, the pool version of You Sank My Battleship |
sorry, I just realized I missed the X in XIV. Fixed |
Could the less brainy of us try water backgammon please? |
So I'm in the process of "brushing" the plaster on a new pool, which involves using the really long pool pole. |
Could definitely do backgammon. Curling, too. |
damn it, we are flooded in New Jersey |
Ok... who's in? I'll get the margaritas. |
I get first crack Deep Blue in the deep blue. Nyet Casparov, you had you're chance, get them flippers off. |
