Wacky Walking Inflatable Flailing Man Thing Which Dances to the YMCA Song

Left leg inflates and pushes backwards...

...right leg deflates and springs forward.

In it's deflated state a leg has a spring that lifts it and moves it forward. It's shaped such that when inflated it angles backwards like a rear leg in the walking cycle. When a leg inflates, the first thing that blows up is an accordion like affair that extends and drops the foot to the ground. Then as it continues to blow up, it plumps up into its rear facing shape.

A valve cycles between left and right leg causing the thing to walk.

Design has been simplified:

It would have vents on the left and right "shoulder blade" area. These vents would aim back and down so when opened the thing would tilt up and forward in the opposite direction.

Open the left vent it tilts right, lifts the left foot forward and pivots taking a step. Close the left vent and repeat with the right. Picture a fat guy walking flailing his arms, like "Get out of my way! I need meatloaf!"

Additionally, if you can have valves making the thing walk, you could easily have valves on the arms as well making them gesture at your command. Make it wave and such.

Huh? I haven't even finished and it's got a bone?

Is there a critique to go with that?
doctorremulac3, Aug 30 2014

Here's your critique: Those Daisy Dukes you have on smell like you washed them in sauerkraut juice!

But that was not my fishbone, just the critique you requested to go with it.

My question is power. Would this thing drag the inflation apparatus with it? Or would it pace a circle around a central blower apparatus?
bungston, Aug 30 2014

It should have the word "Wacky" sort of "Wacky Flailing Leg Inflatable Tube Man" thing.... not my bone.
bs0u0155, Aug 30 2014

       A) What makes you assume I'm wearing pants? and

       B) All REAL men smell like sauerkraut juice.

It would pace in a circle but after eating ice cream on a gorgeous day here in my beloved, beautiful Monterey, I've improved the design.

It walks, it flails, it amazes.

//It should have the word "Wacky" sort of "Wacky Flailing Leg Inflatable Tube Man" thing//

       Done.

LOL. I posted this idea from my iPhone with the little screen with everything real close together. It appears I've boned myself. Not the first time that's happened in my life. Yup. I accidentally boned myself and then, like a bird picking a fight with the mirror said "Hey! Who boned me!!!"

You know what? I'm putting that bone back as penance.
doctorremulac3, Aug 30 2014

I don't really understand why it's not naked. And on a spring. [+]

       quit boning yourself
quit boning yourself...

[+] but would suggest some sound effects need to be added.

//quit boning yourself quit boning yourself...//

I would have also accepted: "Why you boning yourself? Why you boning yourself? Why you boning yourself?"
doctorremulac3, Aug 30 2014

The vents should have razzers in them so it makes farting noises as it progresses.
pocmloc, Aug 31 2014

You could mount the generator on the front of your float and walk this thing down the street in a parade.
bungston, Aug 31 2014

Is it a an ostrich? is it a dodo? its Flailing Man.
pashute, Aug 31 2014

Surely this device could produce bagpipe music as it perambulates?
MaxwellBuchanan, Aug 31 2014

It CAN, in clear breach of the Geneva convention.
bs0u0155, Sep 01 2014

       //produce bagpipe music//
Accordian music, shirley?

//It appears I've boned myself//
You should probably see a doctor for that...

A small battery powered compressor in each foot and careful arrangement of inflating sections should allow "untethered" walking. Using inflatable (albeit smaller and high pressure) bladders for robots is an existing technology.

Just realized, if you can have valves making the thing walk, you could easily have valves on the arms as well making them gesture at your command. Make it wave and such.

Couldn't you just get a drunk?
not_morrison_rm, Sep 02 2014

Is that like getting asleep or agog?
bungston, Sep 02 2014

Occurs to me you could just have a retrofit couple of omni-directional jets attached to the arm holes.

You could make it do the YMCA dance.
doctorremulac3, Sep 02 2014

are you crowd-sourcing innovation right now? I worry where this will lead.
bs0u0155, Sep 02 2014

It will lead to the YMCA
pashute, Sep 02 2014

I don't know, is there big money in being a dancing inflatable man mogul?
doctorremulac3, Sep 02 2014

       As Al Harrington <link>
bs0u0155, Sep 02 2014

       More like Rob Ford.....

//are you crowd-sourcing innovation right now? I worry where this will lead.

Consistently amazed there isn't a direction connection between here and kickstarter....how the pennies would roll in..
not_morrison_rm, Sep 02 2014

It could have an inflatable mallet in each hand and then be called Whacky Wacky &c. &c.
