A wrist-watch with a vibe setting for the alarm.
I found myself wanting this when I took a nap at work today and set my watch alarm but slept through because there was so much ambient noise I didn't notice the beeping. It sounds like something I might have seen here before, but I can't find it
in
the alarm categories or the watch category, and I haven't ever seen it elsewhere.
If somebody else already posted the same idea, please link it and I'll gladly delete this.

Baked - and someone else posted this recently. |

Whew! For a minute there, I thought this was some sort of candle holding sex-toy rally... |

Sadly, or rather amazingly, this is now definitely baked. The link posted above this one by DrCurry is not the same thing that my idea calls for.

//Why not develop an alarm clock into which you program two or more separate wake times? Each wake time corresponds to a different color-coded device that can be worn on the body such as a wrist/ankle/finger band that vibrates//

That one is not for a watch at all, but rather it seems to be a wristband that receives some sort of wrieless signal from a desktop alarm clock and vibrates when the desktop alarm tells it to. I don't think it's close enough to count as prior art, which is why I didn't delete this one.

Now, however, there's a Casio watch I saw at Sears a few days ago that says on the label that it has a vibrating alarm, and has 4 multifunction alarms. Not sure if the vibe applies to each of them, but I'm assuming it does. Also, Sony Ericsson now boasts a Bluetooth watch that vibrates any time your phone receives an alert, such as incoming calls or SMS messages, and if the phone goes out of range of the Bluetooth connection (about 30 feet) in case you lose it or it gets stolen. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that the alarm alert would be included.

Anyway, I'm not deleting this post because I posted it first to my knowledge, but I think it's kinda neat when I see old ideas that orignated here end up making their way into reality. |

Buy a real watch - not a quartz nonsense. Mechanical alarm
watches are not very loud, but they do vibrate, and have
done for several decades. |

I knew mechanical analog clocks had a vibrating bell alarm (I've used them before, most reliable clocks I've ever owned) but I don't know of any purely mechanical watches that have a silent vibrating alarm. I'll do some more research in that area, as I'd not thought of analogs when searching for prior art. If you know of any specifically, I'd appreciate a link in case my search comes up dry. |
