Untied
shirts that end the era of necktie tyranny | |
A new line of future fashion has hit the racks of male boutiques and mens departments, promising comfort and simplicity. The unlikely dress shirt and undershirt combinations will mean the death of the cravat, to the cheers of men everywhere.
On top is worn the custom dress shirt with cutout tie
and hooked collar. Underneath is worn a colorful silk or knit t-shirt or tank top. The result is an airy, comfy illusion fooling everyone but your neck. For a really laid back look, skip the T, giving a skin-toned or furry necktie.

I like it. I can't stand ties. + |
unnecessarily brilliant + |
... but boys, you look so charming wearing a tie! |
Very nice. I like the shirt--it will show off my colorful tattoo. |
untied is united spelled sideways. dentworth needs more coffee... |
Is their a bow-tie shaped holed one for posh dos? |
FJ, you have DNA samples preserved, right?+ |
Dyslexics of the world untie! |
great idea, but what is to keep the shirt hole tie-shaped as opposed to just flapping in the wind like leaving half the buttons unbuttoned? |
I agree with [Po]...gentlemen wearing neckties=charming & handsome. But as long as [FJ]'s latest creation looks like the real thing... |
One would wear a tie-dye shirt, I take it? |
Pure genius. And in the evening, just unhook the top and wear with a furry vest and medallion for that Miami Vice drug dealer look. + |
Ive noticed a lot of people applying a similar principle achieve to the illusion of a skin-toned cummerbund. |
This idea rocks - I want it with a plastic undershirt so I can show off my superfluous third nipple. I also agree that there might be a certain amount of wind-flap action... perhaps a calico stiffener around the edge. |
I like the motive behind the idea, but won't any measures such as stiffening the collar or still having a top button recreate the very discomfort we are trying to avoid? |
no more changing ties as the fashion undulates between Kipper Tie and 80s' thin, simply loosen or tighten your flaps. |
Hmph. If only this was out, I wouldn't of had to learn how to tie a tie. Nice idea, btw. Very easy to make...
*looks for old dress shirts* |
Ok, but I have to own up to the fact that slowly undoing a man's tie, (the man smell mixed with the day long dissipation of the cologne smell), and the feel of a fine material being held between my fingers, and the touch of it, and the touch of a bit of skin near it, a single hair brushing against my nearness to him, is a very, very, wonderful blend of smell, and history of his day, and the knot ... |

It's like the difference between a woman wearing "Hanes Her Way", underneath a classic little black dress. |
A + for the concept. but please forgive the next woman you undress, who has drawn a thong on to her grannies size 90 unders. |
Haha, good one, [blissmiss]!!! |
I need a holiday. I can now spot a [FarmerJohn] idea just by looking at the title. |
BlissMiss... I agree. My neck ties have been used by my gf for all kind of post work shennanigans. |

<Leslie Phillips> Ding! Dong! </LP> |
+ Fashion genius. Also + for blissmiss for injecting a bit of gentle raunch into my morning. |
A hairy man could skip the underneath shirt for an interesting look. |
Could be a problem for women who like to throw on their boyfriends' shirts. A little extra unanticipated air-conditioning. |
"They appear to relish..." |
Quite true. I guess that would make the Untie even _more_ popular. |

"Having just read your profile page, I am curious, why do you visit, and/or post on a site that you seem to dislike so much?" |
As I said, I like the ideas. |
Barring that, would you mind moving this personal discussion to e-mail or a halfbakery-oriented social forum? All of you have e-mail addresses in your profiles... |
The [po], [Mach] and [bliss] posts
illustrate exactly why this is a poor idea. |
