Collapsed size: A sphere with an eight inch, or so, diameter.
-The top hemisphere has a hard outer shell that allows it to pivot with minimum clearance underneath the lower hemisphere in order to open.
-The inner upper hemisphere is a, waterproof fabric covered, Hoberman hemi-sphere with pantograph extensions for the spokes.
The lower hemisphere extends in segments to resemble an elongated, inverted mushroom cap.

When the downpour lets up you can kick it along happily home so as to spin away excess water.

So, since there is no mention of a handle, I'm guessing it's not so much an umbrella as it is a rain hat?

I think this idea screams for a diagram so I'll withhold my vote until I see one.

so it would look kind of like a breast when open?

What does a open breast look like? Curious minds want to know.

I'll see if I can find time this weekend [Canuck]. If I can make it look like it does in my head it is not going to be easy.

       [jhomrighaus], perhaps.
If flesh colored and malleable.

[NotTheSharpestSpoon] after watching a broadcast about breast augmentation surgery I can safely say that it is best to remain curious.
