There seems to be extremeists amongst the media and the general public who froth and rage against the various arms of government, no matter if the government is mildly liberal, or slightly conservative. In the former case there are mad scares about the Red Terror, how the Socialists will spend all your
money and the Woke Libtards will confiscate your children; in the latter case that the Fascists will send you to the Concentration Camps.
Proposed is that any incoming government assesses their partisan positioning. (a centrist government might play safe by considering both sides. In fact most actual governments might count as Centrists for the purpose of this idea and so might require double the resources proposed)
A shadow government is appointed, being the opposite of the actual office holders. So a mildly conservative Executive appoints a shadow Woke executive; a mildly conservative judiciary appoints a communist gulag shadow judiciary, and a mildly conservative legislature appoints a marxist shadow legislature. Conversely, a mildly liberal executive would appoint a Fascist Dictator shadow executive, and so on. A genuinely centrist or coalition government would be permitted to appoint two sets of shadows.
The appointees have exactly zero legal, legislative or executive power; they are best considered as character actors. They are given sufficient resources in the way of finance, premises and staff, to enable them to take up significant amounts of time on mainstream and social media. Their mission is to tap into the froth and outrage and to give it an outlet (a bit like football matches).
Meanwhile the actual government can get on with the business of governing, freed from the distraction of frothing ranters.
