Transformer Side Table

Side tables are great. You can put them beside things, chairs for example, and then use their carefully chosen height to elevate objects from the floor for convenience.

But that's it. I mean sure, they can hold your coffee at the right height while you peruse a periodical, but that's nothing a reasonably well trained servant couldn't do. How about a little more technology?

The table should plug into the nearest outlet, then, the wiring should be routed internally to the upper surface. Here, one half of a transformer is placed. Either one big one or a few small ones corresponding with a pattern in the wood work. Now, with the table you get a special lamp stand which has the other half of the transformer. Now you have a lamp that may be placed anywhere on the surface of the table and you still get light. No wires. Also available, phone/TV remote chargers, coffee warmers anything else you want.

Now, this will be hideously inefficient, but it's worth it when you have guests. You can simply take a lamp out of a cupboard, and place it on the table where it instantly lights up. You can turn the lamp off by moving it out of the appropriate zone. This is actually much better than all that fiddling with switches up inside the shade... who thought that was OK anyway? Your guests will think you have house-wide wireless power. And you won't tell them you don't.
