Train Crossing Theater

Tired of wasting your life away waiting for a train to cross? Wanna just take your chances and jump over the damn thing? Well no more suicidal tendencies, the Train Crossing Theater is here. Attached to each crossing arm is an opaque white length of canvas conveniently rolled arround the crossing-arm itself. When a train approaches and the crossing arms come down, the white canvas strip is extended vertically by actuated arms on either side, the projector conviently hidden within the crossing control box fires up and the show begins. Snippets of the Discovery Channel, or The Learning Channel can be showed to an audience of adults and children alike to tide them over that achingly long wait for the train. Tune in to a pre-determined short-range FM radio frequency to hear the show from your car radio. So next time on your route across the tracks don't forget the popcorn.

What? Cross-dressing Theatre? We already have that.

       sp: crossing (2x), control, commence

You should issue a flip card to each person in the train for them to hold up at their window as the train passes the crossing. Then if they held the cards up at the right time and the cards showed stages in an animated sequence, the waiting motorists could enjoy a short cartoon.

live performances! a crossing comedian would be great!

[kropotkin], that's a wonderful idea, you've got to post it....should be a whole range of similar applications.

Post the pictures on the sides of the train, and post a moderately sized frame that people could watch to get the animation. Depending on how fast the train is traveling, match music or commentary from the FM frequency to match. THough I would loathe the trains with the animated "Romeo and Juliet" show. Entertaining or not, thats a long drawn-out saga.

How about a continuous-play loop of your local politician explaining why the state/county etc could not afford to build a bridge over the track?
dobtabulous, Dec 23 2003

I love to watch the trains. I used to go down to the yard two or three times a week and watch the switching ops, and I have a small model empire that I putt around on in my "spare" time.
ato_de, Dec 23 2003

How about head on train crossing theater? Arch releases canvas strips, then the person can sit in between the tracks and watch a short film. +
