Toastable Popcorn

Jiffy pop for your toaster

This would be like the kind of popcorn bag you put in your microwave, only with some sort of heat-conductive material attached to it, which you stick in the toaster slot and it pops the popcorn. See the picture for an example.

A toaster really can't accomodate enough popcorn to make this worthwhile, can it?
snarfyguy, May 11 2003

Maybe if it worked like a hot air popper where the kernels leave the toaster and are caught in a hopper of some sore. This idea needs a popper hopper.

I'm imagining that, once popped, you wouldn't be able to get the thing out of the toaster slot.
bristolz, May 11 2003

You're assuming that popcorn is going to be in the slot. I think virus means for a thermally conductive area of the bag to be in the slot, with the rest sitting above. Nice idea.

My oath it is [DrCurry], why wouldn't it be?

That's not how I interpret the diagram but, if that is the case, I agree it's not a bad idea.

Please test in a fire-proof environment, because you're gonna block the convection cooling of the toaster. It'll be fun to watch, though.

"Momma, Daddy's in the kitchen and he's burned the toaster."

"No Son, you mean 'Daddy's burned the toast.'"

"No Momma, Danny's burned the toaster and his clothes and he's rolling around the kitchen floor with his hair on fire."

Oops - I thought you wanted to toast popped popcorn, hence my doubtfulness.

Now I see you are popping the corn in the toaster. So permit me some different doubtfulness - how many people in this modern world have a toaster but not a microwave?

Definite croissant from me, versatility is the name of the game, use it in a toaster, under a grill, on the engine of your carbicle.
