The Theremin, as you will know, is a musical instrument usually controlled by moving your hands around one or more antennae. However, any body part should suffice.

Given the hugely increasing smallness of electronics, and improvements in battery technology, it should be possible to incorporate the necessary components (including a small piezo speaker) into an IUD. Once this is done, applications of this technology will doubtless be discovered.

       I think the firmware (pun intended) could be programmed to null-out routine contact, leaving the thereminiud to respond solely to, ah, additional stimuli.

       I thought that this was nude theremin, and the lead in reference to body parts made sense. But the increasing smallness bit seemed unusually self deprecating for Max. I assumed a cold day in the UK.
