A hilarious Christmas comedy romp from the world of theoretical physics.
The action takes place in a German University in the early part of the 20th Century.
Werner Heisenberg wants a kitten for Christmas. He asks his friend Erwin Schrödinger to get him one. On Christmas Eve, Schrödinger presents
Heisenberg with a large, beautifully wrapped box, and tells him that there is a kitten inside, but also a radioactive source, a detector and a bottle of poison. Thus the kitten now exists in a state of quantum uncertainty and may be either alive or dead.
Throughout Christmas night, Werner agonises about opening the box - as long as it is closed, the kitten may be alive.
He falls asleep, and dreams. In his dreams, Werner's kindly Uncle Neils Bohr then explains the Copenhagen Interpretation, finishing with the assertion that we can't prove anything (which is no help at all). Uncle Albert Einstein cannot shed any light on the matter, as he is not a relative of Werner's and therefore not a real Uncle.
On Christmas morning, there is a hilarious heart-warming denouement which reaffirms the Spirit of Christmas and the good side of human nature, but since the box hasn't been opened yet, we can't tell you what it is.
[This idea may receive more than the usual amount of post-posting emendation]

I was nabbed out of a funk by the title. And then I
read it. I love it+. |
The radioactivity has caused to kitten to mutate into a beautiful Christmas butterfly? |
The kitten has a glowing red nose after drinking the contents of the vial? |
[8th of 7] & "heartwarming" - these things do not go together. |
the thing is if you put off opening the box for too long, the kitten will starve - makes sense to me anyhow. |
//hilarious heart-warming denouement |
The cat is alive on Christmas morning and dies 10 years to the
day by climbing back into Werner's box-shaped atomic pile.
That crazy cat! |

Ooooh, could this be ...... a trap ? |

A Very Erwin Xmas -- where every gift is a mystery gift. |
If I know 8th, the //heart-warming// will be strictly thermal. |
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without directed-energy weapons ..... |
//directed-energy weapons // |
I prefer those of the kinetic energy variety ... whereas cats are concerned. |
Are you referring to the cat-hurling trebuchet? I believe the trigger consists of a radioactive source and a detector... |
+ for the title alone...oh yeah and the idea, too+ |
I thought "Rommel" when I first saw the title.. |
"Half-Bakery, the musical", now that I'd pay to see.. |
I think you may be erwin on the side of caution! |
