We beg your indulgence, Ladies and Gents,
-The women especially, we have to confess,
We really hope they will be brilliantly dressed-
To announce the newest of HalfBaked events.
After much thought, (and procrastination)
Here’s Your Official HalfBaked Invitation:

“Come One, come All to The HalfBaker’s Ball!
From England or Aussie or old Montreal*.
Pull out your wigs and your masks and your paint.
Dress up as a villain a child or a saint.
Upload your photo (the link has been listed)
The wilder the better; you won’t be blacklisted.
Doctor your photo or draw it yourself
Pull that tiara from off of your shelf.
We’re waiting and dizzy to see your expression
(Just don’t post your privates; please use your discretion!).
Post just one photo or two or fifteen,
We just want to see YOU up on the screen!
So come drink and be merry, intrigue and enthrall,
At The Very First HalfBaker’s Masquerade Ball!”

*You were not forgotten, those from Peru
Or you from DesMoines, Halifax, or Cancun,
Or if you’re in Mexico, Madrid or Bombay
Or New York or Cleveland or Chesapeake Bay,
Iraq or Ziare, Muncie or Sweden,
You *all* are invited, so please come right on in.

       well...
There's gonna be a baker's ball.
Down at the bakers hall.
And you know you're invited one and all...

       Come on bakers
grab your cocktail mice
Load your phone pistol
take your vitamin spice
don't forget your spongeformed ice...

We're going to the baker's ball.

All the vets and the newbies are boogying together
the fruity guys are dressed all in apple leather
the greatest of the bakers and the satirists too
screaming "please croissant me, and I'll croissant you."
The moderators are dancing with the trolls
IBD'ers are swinging OB souls
Across the floor and up the wall
we're bakin at the Bakers Ball.

       (appologies to Dr. Hook)

Worldgineer, Oct 09 2003

jonthegeologist, Oct 09 2003

got my painting dancing shoes on, thanks for the invite.
po, Oct 09 2003

Sorry, I don't go to anything that starts with "First Annual."
phundug, Oct 09 2003

Consider renaming 452nd* Annual HalfBaker's Ball
*In reverse chronological order.

You may need to ask pluterday for the exact number.
Worldgineer, Oct 09 2003

       The 15th Triskaidecentennial Halfbakers' Ball...?
DrCurry, Oct 09 2003

? No entry in dictionary. Trying "Triskaid".

Triskaidekaphobia - fear of 13. I know cent is hundred. The 15th HB Ball, with one held every 1,300 years? I'd better not miss this one.
Worldgineer, Oct 09 2003

Is there a theme to this party? Do we all come along as our best idea yet? In that case I've painted my dancing shoes on and Im ready to rumble like there's no mustard in my drawers!
rumbletumbler, Oct 09 2003

// Do we all come along as our best idea yet? //

My best idea yet has been "The Kama Sutra of Public Places"... what do you say?
Detly, Oct 09 2003

I will wear my Butt Wedge in case things get out of control....
lintkeeper2, Oct 10 2003

In that case, I think my best idea yet might be just to stay home...
lostdog, Oct 10 2003

Dets, Its about time my Karma came good again! Im 6ft exactly, dark hair, blue eyes, like long walks in the rain, musicals and yodelling naked.

       Luv Rum
rumbletumbler, Oct 10 2003

//Sorry, I don't go to anything that starts with "First Annual."//

[phundug], I'm hurt! Here I had set out a nice pimp outfit for you complete with hookers, but you have to be semantically difficult, don't you?
k_sra, Oct 10 2003

Have you got a lamp shade my size?

Will the bouncers let me in if I'm wearing a nudist cosy?
squeak, Oct 10 2003

[Worldgineer] are you really coming as your elf ?

[k_sra]in the words of Nirvana: we should "Come as they would have been now, as they would have been then, as they would have wanted to be in the future."

I think I shall come as [Vernon]
neilp, Oct 10 2003

then I shall come as [neilp] as that position is vacant. so to speak.
jonthegeologist, Oct 10 2003

I'll be appearing as Letsbuildafort with terrible MS Paint ACTION! ... BEHOLD MY LACK OF SKILL!
Letsbuildafort, Oct 10 2003

k_sra, who *are* all those weird people?
po, Oct 10 2003

I don't know, but I especially like the Gringo and the radish. (and you DO look stunning in red, [po])
k_sra, Oct 10 2003

never seen the gringo look so appealing. oh is that radish?!
po, Oct 10 2003

I would have worn a traditional mexican costume (so nobody will show up wearing the same dress as me) and would have brought the croissant-filled piñata for everyone's amusement, but I rather offer myself to serve everyone the best margaritas you've had.
Pericles, Oct 10 2003

I must apologise for not putting my name to my picture. I hit 'go' before I could change it.
Po knows who I am anyway. As soon as I get my login readvised I will correct it.
[k_sra] can I *really* add more than one?
gnomethang, Oct 10 2003

I'm at uni right now, and sadly lacking in any pictures of me, funny or otherwise. However if the ball is a bit greater than a week long I shall be able to catch the end... But only if there are free drinks, you hear me?
RobertKidney, Oct 10 2003

yes as many as you like. we will tell you to stop - honest!

gnome, which were you? I didn't spot you - oh thats not Max Wall then <grin>
po, Oct 10 2003

       <Frank'n'furter>One from the Vaults!</Frank'n'furter>
gnomethang, Oct 10 2003

[po] Ta very much my dear! Just for that you get a second in the Rawk'n'Roll phase (about the same time!)
gnomethang, Oct 10 2003

I am having problems uploading a pic. I have tried jpg's and gif's under the size allowed, any ideas?.
I'm going to be late, leave me a cheese sandwich please.
sufc, Oct 11 2003

The problem might be that you are using that link directly to the upload page. I haven't tried, but I suspect the site will prevent you from uploading if it doesn't know who you are. Go to the main page and log in. You can figure out the rest. As I recall, it is a fairly straight forward interface.
half, Oct 11 2003

       (half) Thanks.
sufc, Oct 11 2003

Yes, more than one picture is encouraged. And drinks are behind the bar. Help yourself. There are two cats and one dog who will try to get out when you come in. Put hostess presents in that corner and your coats on the bed through there. And if you're going to be late bring an extra cheese ball and knock loudly. The party runs till we run out of space or energy, whichever comes first.
k_sra, Oct 11 2003

Erk: slight snafu on the Calendar site, but order, if that is the right word, is now restored. There was a bug on the input screen - you shouldn't have been able to add a picture without logging in. If you did that thing, create a login ID and let me know, and I'll reassign the picture back to you (then you can edit it or delete it).
DrCurry, Oct 12 2003

       what a carry on!
po, Oct 13 2003

       Ooooh Matron!
The Kat, Oct 13 2003

Where the hell is the bar?
Worldgineer, Oct 13 2003

"Look who's here! It's [half] him elf. Huh, I heard he was a total recluse."
"Amazingly, he even appears to have a date."
half, Oct 13 2003

       Yeah, who is the blonde?
k_sra, Oct 14 2003

       Dr. Curly?
FarmerJohn, Oct 14 2003

Sorry I'm late, had a few bugs to take care of. And if anyone makes snide remarks about my nose, or that I'm coloured, I'm leaving.
lintkeeper2, Oct 14 2003

You haven't missed that much. Have you seen the bar?
Worldgineer, Oct 15 2003

[World], I am now pointing to the bar. Please see [link].

[lintkeeper2], don't you look cute! I never would have recognized you.
k_sra, Oct 15 2003

(sigh of relief) Thanks k. Lovely party. The carved cheese bubbles are simply wonderful.
Worldgineer, Oct 15 2003

*I* feel left out. All the places you mentioned were from your own planet. No one ever mentions inviting those from the (SMC). We're like a whole galaxy and we are right next door.

Still looks like a good idea. +
sartep, Oct 15 2003

Well, Muncie is kinda like another planet...
k_sra, Oct 16 2003

Did I miss the 2nd Annual Halfbaker's Ball, of did someone drop it (the ball, that is)?
Worldgineer, Apr 15 2005

<old joke alert> Two old ladies passing a hall where the Celeron Radio Orchestra is playing at volume level 11
First old lady: Sounds like they're holding a Halfbaker's Ball.
Second old lady: Sounds to me like they're trying to wrench it off. </oja>
