This sculpture is based on the visual pattern of a man falling, and is made thusly:
Get your subject to climb a high platform, say, 10 meters high. Get him to jump off, being as creative in his falling as he likes. His descent is captured with an array of sensors, recording his every movement from
the plaform down to the safety net. The resulting data can be used to make a sculpture of his fall, which will end up looking like continuous column. Even better would be a reverse sculputre made of glass or other transperent material, which would appear to be a square column on the outside, but have a man-shaped hole all the way through it from top to bottom.

An interesting pattern would result from a bungee jump from a moving crane. + |

It would be amusing to add a big splat at the bottom of the sculpture. |

Watched a tv programme about the 'new era' of avant garde sculpture that came out of Central Saint Martin's school of art in the 60's (Gilbert and George etc.). A lot of it was siller and less beautiful than what you propose, through probably easier to make. |

Sort of Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase solidified. |

It sounds beautiful. Imagine that sculpture on a big hall, and having pictures of the fall, taken from above (so that you would see what someone at the top of the sculpture would see) and print them on clear plastic, then hanging them horizontally (so that you would see from below or above, from a mirror on the ceililng) on top of each other (imagine the inside of the encyclopedias where you could see the slices of human beings, one on top of each other; except in this case they have some space in between).
Maybe I over did it, but I think it might add color and perspective, for a fuller experience. My humble thoughts on a great idea... |
