Temporary Enamel
A temporary non-abrasive, yet hardening adhesive with anti-bacterial properties which, applied to the teeth prevents the need to brush three times or even once a day. | |
The most damage that occurs to the teeth due to S. mutans and other bactera's biproducts occurs 45 minutes after consumption of glucose based foodstuffs. Also those who smoke suffer a yellowing of the outer enamel that is unpleasant to say the least. The proposal is a yet to be formulated substance,
which can be applied to an individuals teeth allowing the subject to forgo brushing and flossing. The enamel, when applied thinly, shall be a smooth and a brillant white like the subjects own teeth. During it's manufacture an antibacteria agent will be added to the viscose enamel. The adhesive will have a nontoxic solvent which will quickly evaporate in a 96F mouth leaving the hard enamel behind; adhered to the rough surface of the tooth. The dried enamel may eventually chip off or wear in a similar way and need to be reapplied.
I just noticed this could be used in conjunction with Tooth-friendly caulk. See list.

I was only thinking yesterday that I wished I had teeth like an armadillo. no enamel, ever-growing and no roots. a bit of gnawing now and then and no trips to the dentist. |
Rodents have similar teeth. |
to mine or the armadillo? the trouble with painting some sort of hardening stuff on teeth, is that you are covering all sorts of nasties that will emerge sooer or later. trust me, I am a dental patient. |
where's this list you speak of? |
To the Armadillo. The tooth of a rodent, if not regularly 'filed' through use will grow through its skull. but will probably die of starvation before that.
As for those "nasties" perhaps the person having it applied should give themselves the mouth cleaning of a lifetime before applying the substance: UV light, mouthwash, toothpick, floss, no sugar consumption etc. |
P.S.
I'm also a dental patient every six months. |
and the list - still waiting.. |
Well Po, you're obviously the victim of dental propaganda. What do you mean the nasties will emerge. There are anaerobic bacteria under the gums, and I suppose they could exist under the enamel, but thats what the anti-bacterial agent is for. The list I type of is the one above my entry, the one labelled Health: Teeth |
well you could have put: see HB list above - twit! |
and welcome to the HB - twit! <g> |
I need more information on this "anti-bacterial agent." I'm not putting triclosan in my mouth, thank you. |
Perhaps a antibacterial agent that is common to food preservatives would be in order. |
Every time I read one of your ideas, it sounds like buzzwords from a science book thrown together to form a coherent idea. This one sounds coherent enough, but I fail to see where not brushing your teeth would be desirable. Now, if this caused your teeth to explode, or maybe shoot custard when you yawned, it might pique my interest a bit. |
Tooth coatings not containing anti-bacterial agents are baked (using a bright blue light), I had mine coated many years ago. No cavities, but I still have to brush.. |
//buzzwords from a science book// |
I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about, please elaborate. |
//The most damage that occurs to the teeth due to S. mutans and other bactera's biproducts occurs 45 minutes after consumption of glucose based foodstuffs. // Reads like a biology textbook
//Also those who smoke suffer a yellowing of the outer enamel that is unpleasant to say the least.// Reads like a rough draft of an 8th grade english paper. |
Ouch.. my ego! Although, I still don't understand what you are accusing me of. |
I wasn't accusing, that's called an opinion. |
Technical matters, clearly expressed, SHOULD read like a good textbook. Most textbooks are pretty crap, but that is another matter.
And, anything that can't be expressed clearly, is usually bullshit (see economic theory). |
