TFT Shutters

Imagine a 22 inch TFT flat screen monitor (unless you've already got one.)Now, imagine two hinged shutters which meet in the middle and conceal the monitor's display.

Open the two shutters outwards towards you and push them to the sides of the monitor and lock into place. You now have two additional adjustable displays to play with.

With the inclusion of Matrox’s TripleHead,TrackIR or similar you'd have a pretty decent sized adjustable standalone monitor and screen protector.

Aren't these things more normally referred to as "triptychs" ?

Don't you go playing with my display.

[Wondering why someone named vincevincevince wouldn't want three displays.]

... and what do you look at with your third eye, then ?

It's just a way of storing a triple screen. But it works, and it's neat. It would be better if there was no screen surround, seamless joins - don't know how hard that would be but probably feasible.

Imagine Total War on one of them!

PS Can't run DefCon on my old laptop. Will run it on a better one sometime and kill everybody.

integrate half-decent flat-speakers into the shutter-panels and I'll buy one.

I thought this was an idea about a new kind of shutter for an SLR camera, using liquid crystals rather than moving parts.
