I've done this a couple of times inadvertently, but now I'm
thinking I could save embarrassment by doing it on
purpose.
So, you post an idea. People may or may not annotate it.
If they don't, maybe the non-sequitur is the idea itself,
which is quite efficient. If they do, you or someone
else
might reach the point where an annotation is a kind of
faux pas - it's inappropriate or maybe it just leaves users
not knowing what to say, perhaps because it's just bad or
depressing or responding will encourage the poster to
escape into a delusional world of their own from which
they will never return and end up institutionalised for the
rest of their lives, except that care in the community is
now flavour of the month so maybe not.
I imagine this usually happens accidentally, but it could be
done deliberately, That's my idea then: when you want to
sign off on an idea, post an annotation which nobody
knows how to respond to, thereby summoning the
tumbleweed.

Okay, I changed a category and I changed a title recently,
I've used up my quota for February now, sorry [Ian], but I
would've done if I hadn't. |

Yeah, I've heard that one before. |

As John Varley said, "mumble" ... |
