The world is going to end in 2012 as pointed out by the recent movie, 2012, which nobody on the Internet ever noticed before and which is why you never, ever, ever heard about 2012 before.
Now, I'm not going to go do something as silly as watch the movie, but I did watch the trailer because being
a resident of Los Angeles, I enjoy living here yet I also enjoy watching Los Angeles getting blown up, which, in a circularly bizarre fashion, I get to see all the time in the movies but never in real life.
Anyway. It appears that in the movie a Red Line or possibly Purple Line train, heretofore known only undergound, is somehow ripped from the earth and flung nearly in the path of an airplane.
Therefore, I am proposing safeguards for underground trains by fitting them with sensors that can detect airplane radar transponders and immediately apply the brakes, independent of the operator going "Oh shit, I'm dead."
The nation demands strong action on this issue, people.

In the circumstances, I doubt that brakes will do much for you. How about a drogue chute? |

Clearly what we need here is a blimp, deployed airbag style. |

[21] if there were still large amounts of rock between the train and the plane, we wouldn't need the transponders, would we? Read the idea. Or do you not care about the safety of subway passengers in the event of worldwide apocalypse? You fiend. |
